Proving our support for the bakery industry

Proving our support for the bakery industry

Having run the very successful Pettigrew Tea Rooms in Victoria Park, Cardiff for several years, David Le Masurier has fulfilled his passion to open an artisan bakery.

David was recommended to use Armada for financing his manufacturing plant – mixers, oven, dough retarder and all the equipment needed to produce high-end breads and pastries.

Once the bakery has established itself, David is planning to open a school, to teach the baker’s and patisssier’s arts. We look forward to funding his further ambitions.

Quality overcomes price sensitivity

Once Heston Blumenthal had experimented, developed and perfected the Triple Cooked Chip it was only a matter of time before other chefs and restaurateurs copied.

Derek and Lesley saw an opening in their area for an up-market fish and chip restaurant and takeaway. With an existing ‘run of the mill’ chippy for experience, they checked out Rick Stein’s operation in Padstow and then began looking for premises.

Having an unblemished history with Armada funding their first site, they knew we would finance the ranges and ancillary catering equipment and also the furniture. They were able to concentrate their minds on the building works and the design.

Now they are grilling and frying all the more exotic species of fish and serving the best chips in town. The customers don’t mind having to queue for superb quality.

Being the main contractor for the Celtic Manor Resort and having Marks & Spencer suppliers as customers, Rob Chard and his team at Recrite Scaffolding know that only exacting standards will cut the mustard with his customers.

Not surprisingly Rob expects his suppliers to live up to his standards.

When Rob needs new scaffolding he now turns to Armada to funds his tubing, boards and fittings. Speed of decision making and service is expected.

Understanding scaffolders and their industry over decades makes Armada the first port of call when needing asset finance.

“This is the second time I have used Armada and it was the same excellent experience; simple, straightforward and no fuss. Thank you.”

Learning ways to cut costs

Learning ways to cut costs

Looking at how a private school can improve its services and value for money, one headmaster, bursar and Board of Governors decided to invest in an in-house laundry.

This decision enabled the school to stop the need for local laundry services, control costs and quality and ultimately hire out their unused capacity by selling their services to other schools in the vicinity.

By taking out an asset leasing agreement with Armada, for the washers, dryers and rotary iron over 3 years, bringing in an income stream through hiring out their services and ending their laundry contract, this school managed to dramatically reduce their costs at the same time as upping their standards.

A farm shop owner in North Somerset asked his accountant for advice on financing the extension of his farm shop to incorporate a café facility.

After looking at the Armada web site and Pinterest Boards, the accountant advised Tim to take up an asset finance agreement for the catering equipment, furniture and epos system.

Tim was very credit worthy so we were happy to fund the C. £45K cost on a 3 year contract in order to minimise the interest element.

Through a personal connection, Armada was approached by a company specialising in transport and storing of high-end cars.

Some of the vehicles are collectors’ items and some are being stored long term while their owners are out of the country.

In order to expand their business, Brian and Phil decided to invest in purpose-built containers with climate control systems and high levels of security.

Armada was asked to fund the containers and to finance the beefed-up site security and surveillance equipment.

The finance repayments to Armada were more than covered from day 1 by the hefty rental income from their well-heeled clients.

Their future is secure with Armada

After several break-ins our local veterinary practice were very jumpy – not surprising as the partners and staff frequently need to visit the practice at night.

They contacted Armada and asked if we would ‘vet’ them before they approached security companies for an holistic package that would give them peace of mind.

After we gave them the go-ahead and agreement in principle, they purchased electronic gates, a key pad and remote door entry system and cameras inside and outside their premises, which can be viewed on tablets or lap tops at all times, even when they are abroad on holiday. Their system in now monitored, externally 24/7.

A vending machine company who specialise in supplying machines to garages have been working with Armada for many years.

Recently a privately owner group of garages needed circa £25K of food and drinks machines but would only place the order on a rental contract with full maintenance and repair or replacement basis.

We were asked by the supplier if we would finance the machines to him in order that he could rent them on to the garages.

On the agreement that we are always informed where the machines are, the contracts were swiftly signed and the machines are earning their keep.

Having a taste for financing food manufacturers

Having a taste for financing food manufacturers

Being based in the heart of Devon for over 40 years, it is not surprising that we have funded some of the large number of cheese manufacturers in the South West.

The lushness of the pastures and the prolific production of milk has made many farmers go into cheese manufacturing in order to create an add-on value to their basic product.

With so much cash tied up in maturing stock, asset finance for plant and equipment is an obvious way to re-balance the cashflow. We are asked to fund the significant amount of refrigeration needed in the cheese making process as well as the variety of manufacturing plant.

More cheesemakers are now creating yet more added value by having in-house shops and cafes. Just as well that Armada has a lifetime’s experience of financing catering equipment and shop fit-outs.

A commercial cleaning company in the London area approached Armada via their accountant. They had recently purchased a competitor, who was retiring and the purchase had used up their resources.

Alan and Carole’s need was for an additional Peugeot Partner van, floor cleaners and buffers and more desking for their offices.

The cost of the equipment was £78K but the accountant was not expecting Armada to fund the complete package. However, when we looked at the performance of Alan’s company and the amount of equity in their home we were happy to finance the whole transaction.

Fortunately they had no other borrowings so servicing the 3 year Armada deal appears to be very comfortable and sensible. They wanted to repay the borrowing as quickly as possible.
