Don't get tyred looking for finance support

Don't get tyred looking for finance support

An established recycling business in the Midlands asked if we would consider financing a new tyre recycling plant.

They had approached several lenders but each time they referred to the machinery being imported from the States they were politely turned away.

Buying foreign currency for imported assets has been a daily occurrence for Armada for decades.

As soon as we agreed to fund the plant the order was placed with the manufacturers and the arrangement for payment was finalised.

Now the farmers in the Midlands are wondering what to use to hold down their tarps.

A phone call from an old Armada client didn’t sound promising to start with – “I don’t suppose you can help?”

Having spent years financing this established dry ski slope we naturally wanted to help if possible.

The button lift and gearing was past its sell by date and needed replacing before it caused problems or was condemned.

We were delighted to finance the replacement lift, much to the delight of the operators – “We didn’t think you could finance this sort of equipment!”

The Armada response was typical – “Just as well you picked up the phone and asked then.”

Finding solutions, not problems

Finding solutions, not problems

Philippe planned his bakery and potential cookery school carefully, taking time to find the right premises and source the bakery plant.

Problems arose when Parisian born Philippe and his English wife looked for asset funding for their new business. With little equity in their home and no track record, they lost count of the times they were turned away by funders.

At Armada we saw the problem and the solution immediately. With our commitment to supporting new businesses we suggested that Philippe look for guarantors for his contract with us. His in-laws were happy to support their daughter and her husband. Problem solved!

The funding for his equipment was very straightforward and now a whole raft of new patissiers are learning their craft and producing French styled pastries for the locals.

Having worked for a High Street chain of opticians for years, Tim opened his own practise on the local business park, between a pharmacy and a convenience store.

With plenty of equity in his personal property, we were happy to support this new venture.

An asset finance agreement for £85K was drawn up to fund the purchase of the instrumentation, signage, carpets and furniture.

Tim was delighted with the support we gave him and the confidence we showed in him and his new business.

Taking the stress out of start-ups

Taking the stress out of start-ups

Fitting out a new farm shop can be a testing time. Depending on the size of the venture, you will need significant refrigeration, shop fittings, epos and security equipment and that’s just to start with.

Are you looking for a rustic look to the premises or a smart, up-market appearance to appeal to your local clientele? Beware, by the time you’ve paid for signage, lighting and the trolleys and baskets there may be nothing left for the stock!

David and Carina used a mix of their own resources, family money and asset finance from Armada to fund the fitting out of their converted farm barn.

Having planned their new business intelligently David and Carina left enough in reserve to prevent cash flow fatigue when they started.

Furnishing you with the service you deserve

Furnishing you with the service you deserve

Existing clients in the Cotswolds bought a beautiful stone manor house and got planning permission to turn it into a chic 10 bedroom country house hotel.

The owners requested funding for the fitting out of all the bedrooms and the public areas.

All the furniture, carpeting and soft furnishing for the bedrooms needed funding, together with the furniture for the dining room, the bar and the lounges.

It was essential for the clients and for Armada that we could sit down and discuss the requirements and how best to structure a contract that was beneficial for both parties.

At Armada we value the chance to understand our clients and their needs – that way we can give better and individualistic service.

Funding our multi-cultural businesses

Funding our multi-cultural businesses

Serkan and Melis purchased a fish and chip shop in London from a couple that retired from the business.

After 3 years of working very long days and getting a reputation for large portions and top quality product, Serkan decided to refurbish the dining area and replace the 2 pan fryer with a 3 pan unit.

The pair were really chipper when they were introduced to Armada and found that their Turkish background was not an obstacle.

We funded the range and all the furniture over a 3 year period. They had been offered a 5 year contract, which they considered too long as their cash flow will enable them to clear the debt in 3 years.

Armada always looks for reasons to support NOT excuses not to support.

More bounce in the fitness industry

More bounce in the fitness industry

An existing client with an established gym in the North West knows how important it is to keep up with the latest trends.

Mike has spent £15K on building works and decorating throughout. He has taken an area that was under-performing and has dedicated it to a trampoline studio.

We were delighted to fund the trampolines and the new fit out of the reception area on an asset finance contract over 3 years.

Apparently the increase in turnover, since the renovations, is more than paying for the new investment. Now the members are happy, Mike is over the moon and we, as usual, are delighted to support a successful business.

Dedicated to the scaffolding industry

Dedicated to the scaffolding industry

As in many part of the country, Birmingham and the West Midlands has seen a significant growth in the housing sector. This activity level is expected to continue.

Established scaffolding companies are wanting to increase their stocks of tubes, fittings and boards, to take advantage of the current growth and to prevent competitors from encroaching.

Historically, lenders have shied away from the scaffolding industry as they don’t put any value in the assets. However, Armada have been supporting this industry for over 20 years. We are funding the people, not the assets.

With a good track record Armada will continue to help an industry that is building homes and business premises for the future.

An enlightened approach to financing businesses

An enlightened approach to financing businesses

Established Newport entrepreneur, Paul Gray, wanted to open a Yankee Candle retail unit in the new Friars Walk development.

Funding the fitting out of the shop entailed a whole list of “systems” – lighting, CCTV, alarm and sprinkler systems, together with signage, shutters and display units – not every funder’s cup of tea.

Paul was referred to Armada because of our renowned reputation for supporting start-ups and our holistic can-do approach to finance.

He must have been happy with the funding package that enabled him to open on time. As he said -

“The whole process was handled in a professional yet friendly manner and all the paperwork was concluded in a timely fashion. I would not hesitate to recommend you to my friends and business associates.”
